Ana Hanson is an Australian visual artist and illustrator who works in a wide variety of media and styles, across a number of genres, not distinguishing between, or caring about notions of ‘low’ or ‘highbrow’. She was born in Melbourne but grew up on the South Coast of NSW. She moved to Canberra as a young adult where she held her first joint exhibition at the age of 20. She completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Australian National University School of Art where she majored in painting. She since participated in further exhibitions, installations and collaborations, including illustrating a chidren’s book in the A.C.T.  In 2018 Ana returned to Melbourne. Ana Hanson works in a wide variety of media, from traditional painting and drawing mediums –acrylics, watercolors, oils, inks, charcoals, pastels and pens -to aerosol, tattooing, wood-burning, sculpture, digital art, collage and various printmaking -etching and lino -techniques. She works in traditional genres of painting and drawing, regularly attending life drawing sittings, and contemporary genres such as graffiti, tattoo design, comic art and abstraction. Ana is available to discuss commissions, exhibitions and collaborations… in art she is open and interested in almost everything, except of course- doing the same thing twice.
